(1) (2) The Department of Housing and Works does not directly employ apprentices however does apply the Building Skills policy, Aboriginal Enterprise and Employment policy (residential) and Priority Access policy on all tenders. In addition apprentices/ trainees are employed through the New Living contracts (12), the Midwest Training Scheme (6) and through Aboriginal Housing Maintenance programs (12). (3) The Department of Housing and Works is looking at better leveraging its various Capital Works programs to increase the number of apprentices in the building industry in conjunction with Department of Education and Training. (4) The Department of Housing and Works is looking at the precise way of increasing the number of apprentices and the number is currently not known. (5) Funds and resources are being calculated in conjunction with Department of Education and Training. (6) N/A
