HAND GUNS, BAN ON OWNERSHIP
(1) Does the Government intend to introduce legislation for a total ban on the ownership of hand guns in Western Australia? (2) If this is the intention of the Government, has it entered into consultation with sporting shooters groups on the position of sporting hand guns? (3) Is the Government taking any cognisance of United Kingdom evidence which shows a dramatic increase in the use of hand gun violence since its Government introduced a total ban on hand guns, or the evidence from New South Wales in which an instituted criminology study shows that 85 per cent of murders using hand guns took place in two small areas of Sydney and are clearly related to ethnic groups and drugs? Hon N.D. GRIFFITHS
