The Minister for Police and Emergency Services has provided the following response - (1) Given the Government is moving to establish community safety and crime prevention partnerships with local government, funding for Safer WA will cease from 30 March 2004. (2) No. (3) Not applicable. (4)-(6) The Western Australia Police Service is working with Safer WA to agree to a strategy for the future management of Safer WA’s substantial assets that were acquired using taxpayer funds. An implementation committee, chaired by the Office of Crime Prevention and involving the chair of Safer WA, is overseeing the transition process.
