STATE BIOSECURITY CENTRE
1482. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Planning:
I refer to the Cook government's
announcement of 8 August 2024 detailing an $83 million allocation to a new
state biosecurity facility.
(1) Has
DevelopmentWA and/or the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage sought,
undertaken or proposed an evaluation process or usage options assessment of the
current South Perth biosecurity site?
(2) If yes to
(1), what assessments, proposals, financial valuations and usage options have
been considered, reached or calculated?
(3) What is total
land area apportioned to the South Perth biosecurity site?
(4) What land
zoning or permissible usage is currently allocated to the South Perth
biosecurity site; and, as at 12 November 2024, has the minister considered any
variation to the current zoning?

We assumed that the member's
reference to the South Perth biosecurity site is the Department of Primary
Industries and Regional Development's Kensington office.

(1)–(4) The Kensington site is crown land currently under
the management of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional
Development and will be transferred to DevelopmentWA. The future use of the
site is currently under consideration.
