STATE
FINANCES — NET DEBT
580. Mr B.S. WYATT to the Treasurer:
I have a supplementary question. Given that yesterday the
Premier said on radio 6PR that he expected debt to stay in the low-twenties of
billions of dollars, does the Treasurer share the Premier's view?

AnswerView source ↗

I share the Premier's view that we have managed debt.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Members!
Mr T.R. BUSWELL : I
also share the Premier's view that we have to deliver infrastructure,
and I also share the Premier's view that when it comes to shaping a
financial plan for the future of this state, the Labor Party has no idea. I
will reflect again —
Point of Order
Mr B.S. WYATT : In respect of
having no idea, can the Treasurer please inform the house whether the former
government lost the AAA credit rating?
The SPEAKER : That is not a point
of order. Treasurer, can you wind this up, please.
Questions without Notice Resumed
Mr T.R. BUSWELL : I
will, Mr Speaker.
Standard and Poor's said we need to have budget
flexibility around expenditure control. The Labor Party opposes workforce
reform —
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Members!
Mr T.R. BUSWELL :
Standard and Poor's said that we have to exercise budget flexibility
around our balance sheet and asset sales, and the Labor Party opposes all of
that.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Members!
Mr T.R. BUSWELL :
Standard and Poor's also said that we have to exercise budget flexibility
around revenue. In the second question asked today, the Leader of the
Opposition tried to criticise us for daring to reconsider the royalty rates
that apply in this state—absolutely pathetic.
