on 5 March 2012 by respected Indonesia Institute chairman Ross Taylor, stating: Indonesia has a huge and emerging middle-class who wants to travel, and considering a March 7 2012 Lowry Institute poll in Indonesia which showed a huge untapped market for tourists and trade on our doorstep, I ask:
(a) how much does Tourism Western Australia spend promoting Western Australia as an attractive and vibrant destination for Indonesians;
(b) does the Minister believe Indonesia is a viable market to target for tourism opportunities;
(c) will the Minister target the lucrative Indonesian tourism market, and if not, why not; and
(d) does the Minister you know how many Indonesians visited Western Australia in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 to date?

(a) Tourism Western Australia has allocated a budget of $95,900 for 2011/12.
(b) Yes. Tourism Western Australia recommenced activities in this market in April 2011.
(c) Yes.
(d) Yes. Western Australia had 22,500 visitors from Indonesia in 2009, 26,500 in 2010, and 30,400 in 2011. Data on visitor arrivals for the first quarter of 2012 is not yet available and will be released in early June 2012.
