The Premier avoids directly answering whether the health system is in crisis, instead deflecting by criticising the Opposition's lack of support in securing federal funding. The Premier repeats the same statement three times.

I have a supplementary question. By the Premier’s own criteria, set out during an election speech in 2001, does he now accept that we are in crisis? Dr G.I. GALLOP

AnswerView source ↗

The Government of Western Australia went to Canberra with a vigorous argument because there is pressure in our health system. That pressure manifests itself from time to time in crises for individual Western Australian families. It would be nice if, when we go to Canberra with that argument, we could get some support from the Opposition. If I get out my little political dictionary and look under O for Opposition I read “missing in action”!
