1) 775 persons graduated as nurses from universities in Western Australia in 2008.

(2) (a) 422 graduates were recruited into the Western Australian public hospital system in 2006.
(b) 490 graduates were recruited into the Western Australian public hospital system in 2007.
(c) 609 graduates were recruited into the Western Australian public hospital system in 2008.

· Data Source: HR Data Warehouse.
· Data on recruitment and retention to public hospital system is as at the last pay period of December for each year.
· Data Methodology: The Nursing graduate population was defined by appoints at the lowest increment i.e. 1.1, under the ANF Award - WA Health Industrial Agreement 2007.
(3) (a) Of the 422 graduates recruited in 2006 , 311 graduates were still employed 2 years later. For the 2007 and 2008 recruitment year's data is unavailable as 2 years hasn't elapsed since their commencement.
(b) 4 years retention data for graduates recruited in 2006, 2007 and 2008 is not available as 4 years hasn't elapsed since commencement of the first recruitment cohort. This will occur in 2010.
