(1) Is it accurate to summarise the ‘Earth Friendly’ program as one where greenhouse gas emissions will be offset or abated by certified abatement projects?
(2) Is it accurate to summarise the ‘Green Power’ program as one where electricity will be produced using technologies that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to current conventional electricity generating methods?
(3) How many Western Power customers have signed up to the Green Power program and what reduction in greenhouse gas production will have been achieved on an annual basis as a result of these customers signing up?
(4) If the Earth Friendly program will effectively eliminate greenhouse gas production for electricity used by customers who sign up to it, why is the Green Power program to continue when its impact on greenhouse gas emissions will be much lower for each customer who signs up?
(5) Will the certified abatement projects to be used as part of the Earth Friendly program all be based in Western Australia or will Western Power be buying its greenhouse gas offsets or abatements from eastern states projects, thereby conferring little economic benefit to this State?

2) Yes 3) Using Western Power’s full life-cycle greenhouse intensity figure of 1.114 tonnes of CO2e per 1 MWh sold the following reductions were achieved. Please see attached. 4) The Greenhouse Friendly Program, under which Earth Friendly is certified, balances the greenhouse emissions created in the provision of the certified product. That is not necessarily any net decrease in the emissions for the certified product. The programme does not eliminate the greenhouse emissions from the certified product, in Western Power’s case the supply of electricity. This program does not directly affect the volumes of emissions created in the generation of electricity by Western Power. The Customers who sign up for NaturalPower (Green Power accredited product) are causing either no or negligible greenhouse emissions to be emitted in their supply of electricity. 5) Yes. For the foreseeable future Western Power will only be sourcing its abatement from Western Australian based projects, that are eligible to join the Greenhouse Friendly Program.
