ANIMAL WELFARE — GREYHOUND RACING INDUSTRY
559. Hon ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the
Minister for Racing and Gaming:
I refer to the 2019–20
state budget and programs designed to improve the welfare of greyhounds. For
the 2019–20 financial year and across the forward estimates, how
much funding has been allocated to —
(a) greyhound rehoming initiatives;
(b) the track injury rebate scheme;
(c) the greyhound trainer subsidy scheme; and
(d) ongoing surveillance of tracks and venues?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question. The following information has been provided to me by the Minister for
Racing and Gaming.
(a) Subject to
approval from the Racing and Wagering Western Australia board at its June
meeting, the proposed budget for 2019–20 is a total of $1 170 236.
(b) The funding is $304 000.
(c) The funding is $1 755 904.
(d) This item
does not have a specific budget line, as it forms part of the overall budget of
the RWWA integrity operations.
