Boorloo Bridge
645. Ms Sandra Brewer to
the Minister for Transport:
I have a
supplementary question. Given that somebody could have been hurt, should the
public accept, as the minister said today, that these things happen?
The Speaker: Minister, that is a hypothetical
question.

On any given day as
a minister, something can happen. On any given day in the education portfolio, the
water portfolio or the energy portfolio, something can happen. Anything can
happen for the Premier or Minister for Transport. Anything can happen in the
prison system. Does that mean that we just stop and do not do anything? I mean,
this is life. This is reality. We do all we can to deliver the best
infrastructure. Sometimes, mistakes are made. We get on, we fix them, and we
move forward. That is life.
The Liberal Party,
which I do not think has any policies on anything, let alone planning and
housing, just stands on the side and wants bad things to happen in this state. It
has no policies and no ideas about going forward. It opposes new housing,
opposes new infrastructure and opposes everything. The "no-alition" is
siding with the Greens! If members want to see some really incredible action,
last Friday the Liberal and National Parties tried to delve into planning and
development through the Select Committee into Land Development and Planning in
Western Australia. Well, they have no planning and development. They did not do
anything substantial when they were in government, and here we are transforming
the state. We apologise when bad things happen, but we get on, we fix it, and
we are proud of delivering the infrastructure and services for this state.
The Speaker: Now to
the number-one strike bowler for the parliamentary cricket team, the member for
Rockingham.
