CHILD DEVELOPMENT SERVICE REFERENCE GROUP
I refer to the child development service reference group. Will the minister please explain why, in answer to my question on 22 June, he told the Parliament that the exposure draft will now be circulated for comment prior to final submissions; and why, in answer to a further question on 27 June, in which I asked to whom the minister has provided the exposure draft report for comment, the minister answered that, “The minister was not requested or expected to provide the document to any person or body for comment”? Hon SUE ELLERY

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. In answer to the honourable member’s question on 22 June, the reference to the exposure draft being circulated for comment was a reference to the work of the child development service reference group. The chairman of the child development service reference group has circulated the exposure draft of the report to members of the group and other representatives of area health services and child development centres and services for comment, prior to its widespread release for comment.
