DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH - RECORD KEEPING PLAN
(1) On what date did the State Records Commission approve the Department of Health’s record-keeping plan? (2) Who is responsible for ensuring that the Department of Health complies with the provisions of the State Records Act 2000? (3) What is the period of time that a record, as defined by the act, is required to be maintained by the Department of Health? (1) The process for approval of the department’s record keeping documents is ongoing in accordance with the requirements of the State Records Commission. The 2004 record-keeping plan was cleared by the commission on 15 July 2004 and the retention and disposal schedule was approved on 8 March 2007. (2) The chief executive officer - that is, the Director General of the Department of Health - is responsible for ensuring that the Department of Health complies with the provisions of the State Records Act. (3) The period of retention varies in accordance with the content of the record and is defined in the act. (4) The Minister for Health has been assured by the Director General of the Department of Health that he is not aware of any breaches of the State Records Act.
