(1) Is the Minister confident that there are no asbestos or electrical safety hazards in houses occupied on the Aboriginal Lands Trust (ALT) estate? (2) If no to (1), is the Minister confident that there is an appropriate planned response by the department and the ALT to manage asbestos and electrical safety in houses on the ALT estate that are not managed through the Department of Housing? (3) If no to (1), of the housing on the ALT estate that is not managed through the Department of Housing: (a) how many have asbestos in them; (b) how many are deemed to be dangerous as a result of asbestos; and (c) how many are occupied? (4) If no to (1), is the Minister aware of any houses on the ALT estate that have had electrical safety deficiencies that could cause harm to the people living there? (5) How many asbestos audits have been conducted on the ALT estate in the last three financial years? (6) What percentage of housing on the ALT estate has been audited? (7) How much money has been set aside in the 2015-16 Budget and forward estimates to address issues relating to asbestos and electrical safety hazards in houses occupied on the ALT estate?

1. - 7. The Aboriginal Lands Trust (ALT) receives ongoing funding for its responsibilities in managing the ALT estate. In 2015-16, $1.3 million was made available. The management of the ALT estate is a complicated process which involves working with Aboriginal communities and relevant Government agencies to inspect and remediate asbestos and electrical safety hazards in housing.
