I thank the member for some notice
of the question. The following answer has been provided by the Minister for
Housing. I note that the information was correct as of 14 March.
(1)–(2) From
1 July 2021 to 31 January 2023, the Department of Communities purchased a total
of 492 dwellings under the spot purchase program. A regional breakdown across
both financial years is included in the table below.
The
Department of Communities is constantly assessing properties across Western Australia
that may be suitable for spot purchase. There is a lack of suitable housing
stock available in some regions for spot purchase.
Housing
delivery across all regions relies on multiple modes of flexible housing
delivery, including modular builds, prefabricated housing builds, spot
purchase and timber frame builds.
