Protection:
(1) Of the almost 4 000 children who are in
the care of the chief executive officer, how many are Aboriginal children?
(2) Of these
Aboriginal children, how many are located in the —
(a) Kimberley region;
(b)
Pilbara region;
(c)
goldfields–Esperance region; and
(d)
Gascoyne region?
(3) How many
Aboriginal children came into the care of the CEO in each of —
(a) 2009;
(b)
2010;
(c)
2011;
(d)
2012; and
(e)
so far in 2013?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) As at 31 August 2013, there were 1 973 Aboriginal children in the
chief executive officer's care.
(2) The number of Aboriginal children located in the following regions
is —
(a) Kimberley region, 254;
(b)
Pilbara region, 129;
(c)
goldfields–Esperance region, 145; and
(d)
the Gascoyne–Murchison region, 125.
(3) The number of Aboriginal children who
came into the chief executive officer's care in each year was —
(a) in 2009, 301;
(b)
in 2010, 350;
(c)
in 2011, 438;
(d)
in 2012, 465; and
(e)
to 31 August 2013, 304.
