FIRE DANGER RATING SYSTEM
690. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency Services:
I refer to the minister's media statement of 31 May
2023 titled ''Review of the Australian Fire Danger Rating System under
way''.
(1) When will
the Department of Fire and Emergency Services complete its review into the
Australian Fire Danger Rating System?
(2) When do
submissions close for the national review of the AFDRS and what is the expected
time line for this review to be completed?
(3) How will
stakeholders such as local governments, volunteers and community members be
able to provide feedback into these reviews?
(4) Please table the terms of reference for each review.

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) The Western
Australian review effort will continue indefinitely in the context of continual
improvement to the system. As issues are identified, they are being dealt with
and either fixed locally or, when that is not possible, referred through the
national processes.
(2) The national
review commenced on 23 February 2023 and will conclude by 30 June 2023. DFES
has provided a significant amount of input to that review as issues have been
internally identified or provided by external stakeholders.
(3) This ongoing
opportunity for feedback will continue through submission via [email protected],
as has been the case since the new system was launched on 1 September 2022.
(4) The answer
says ''See tabled paper'', but it is not attached. I have seen
it. It was in the pack that I saw. It is not here, but I will get it for the
member and table it tomorrow.
