(2) Under its legislation, Western Power has a statutory obligation to act in accordance with prudent commercial principles. It also endeavors to buy local wherever possible. Western Power utilises the Department of Industry and Technology common use contract as a basis to purchase cars. It purchases its cars from Western Australian dealerships in multiple quantities to obtain further discounts and utilises several distributors throughout the State. Western Power purchases other goods and services from local distributors, such as spare parts, servicing and repairs, including from companies in Albany.
