David Pye—Medication
110. Hon Nick Goiran to
the minister representing the Minister for Corrective
Services:
I refer to the
minister's answer on 10 March 2026 to my question without notice in which he
declined to table the department's policy with respect to the prescription of
medication to prisoners and in which he, in the opinion of the opposition,
inappropriately, in lieu thereof referred the house to the process available
under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 .
(1) Will the minister undertake to comply
with section 82 of the Financial Management Act
2006 and give notice of his decision to the Auditor General?
(2) Meanwhile,
noting the minister's assertion that the department's health policies are
regularly reviewed on both a scheduled and ad hoc basis, when was the last
scheduled review of the policy, when is the next scheduled review of the policy
and when was last ad hoc review of the policy?
(3) What information, if any, is the
minister willing to provide to Parliament to provide the community with some
confidence that this fiasco that unfolded in the trial of David Pye, which had
a material impact upon both the Western Australia Police Force and the Supreme
Court, will not be repeated?
