representing the Minister for Community Services:
I refer to the Best Start program
currently in operation in Hedland.
(1) How often does the program run?
(2) What locations does it run from?
(3) How many children regularly
attend the program?
(4) Will the
Minister for Community Services confirm that funding for the program is due to
cease from 30 June this year; and, if yes, advise why?

I am responding on behalf of the
Minister for Community Services.
(1) The
Department of Local Government and Communities provides four sessions of Best
Start per week in the Hedland community.
(2) South Hedland Primary School and Tjalka Boorda Aboriginal
community.
(3) The Best
Start program in the Hedland community is currently attended by 11 students on
a regular basis for Term 1, 2016.
(4) Funding for the program is not
due to cease on 30 June this year.
