Question on Notice regarding a dispute at Fremantle Hospital concerning access to a baby, Destinee, by her father, Sean Garvey, and a potentially false claim of a letter restricting his access. The Minister's response indicates the hospital denies sending the letter and is working to ensure the baby's safety during visits.

FREMANTLE HOSPITAL — TONI-LEE COMPTON AND SEAN GARVEY
I refer to the minister’s answer to question without notice 688 of 25 June about Toni-Lee Compton and Sean Garvey. (1) Will the minister confirm that on page 3 of the “Notes of meeting at Alma Street June 12 2008” taken by Luba McMaugh, with a copy given to Toni-Lee Compton, that under the heading “Access to Destinee” it is noted that there was a dispute regarding who said what in relation to whether Sean Garvey could hold his four-week-old baby daughter? (2) It is noted on page 3 of the “Notes of meeting at Alma Street June 12 2008” that Peta Gough, the nurse manager, said that a letter was sent to the effect that Sean could not hold his four-week-old baby daughter. Given that it is disputed that any such letter was sent, and that Toni-Lee and her mother are very angry at the accusation that they would have put baby Destinee at risk if such a letter was sent to them, could the minister please ask Fremantle Hospital to table a copy of the letter that Peta claims was sent? (3) If no, will the minister request that staff at Fremantle Hospital formally apologise to Toni-Lee and Gabriella Austin—Toni-Lee’s mother—for lying to them? Hon SUE ELLERY
