(1)–(2) The Department for Child Protection emergency system has been activated. The department works very closely with the police and all the other agencies up north. We are certainly doing our best to ensure that the affected people are housed in the immediate term and then the longer term process comes into effect. They are certainly being looked after. Hon Kim Hames flew up north on Tuesday to ensure that everything was running smoothly and that people were being looked after. I am keeping a very close eye on that, as I know the member is. He should rest assured that those people are being well looked after.
