MEMBER FOR VASSE — ROAD TRAFFIC INCIDENT — POLICE
INVESTIGATION
137. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Attorney General representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the recent incident involving the member for Vasse
in the early hours of Sunday, 23 February.
(1) When did
the WA Police dignitary protection unit or the WA Police state security
investigation unit become aware of the incident?
(2) Did either
of these two units investigate the incident; was a report made; and, if so,
when and to whom was the report presented?
(3) Has either of
these two units ever visited the member for Vasse's Subiaco residence;
and, if so, what were the circumstances?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question. The Minister for Police advises —
(1) Both the
dignitary protection unit, DPU, and the state security investigation group, SSIG,
first found out about the vehicle crash involving the member for Vasse on the
morning of 10 March 2014 via media reporting.
(2) Neither
DPU nor SSIG are involved in the crash investigation concerning the member for
Vasse nor has any report about this crash been made to either unit.
(3) Neither DPU nor SSIG members have ever visited the
Subiaco residence of the member for Vasse.
