(b) what are the estimated greenhouse emissions for each form of home heating energy source as per the standard appliance usage of 4 hours per day for 60 days in order to heat an area of 70 square metres in a well insulated Perth home?
(a)&(b) The graph in Western Power Corporation's advertisement, referred to by the Member and comparing the various home heating methods, has been extracted, with permission, from a brochure produced in 1999 by the Office of Energy entitled Choosing a Heater. The claims made in the Western Power advertisement are based on and substantiated by the independent results published by the Office of Energy in the brochure. The operating cost assumptions and greenhouse emissions estimates on the basis requested, are shown in detail in a table that I will provide to the Member. See Paper No. A new brochure with more up-to-date costs is being developed by the Office of Energy for distribution to the public through the Government's Home Energy Line information service.
