154. Hon Tjorn Sibma to
the Leader of the House representing the
Minister for Skills and TAFE:
I refer to delays in
repairs to the training vessel Maritime Image ,
used by South Metropolitan TAFE to deliver maritime training.
(1) Can the minister confirm that
approval for the funds required to repair Maritime
Image have been delayed?
(2) Is the government now considering
chartering a vessel so that maritime courses can continue while procurement of
a new training vessel is underway?
(3) What is the estimated annual cost of
chartering a replacement vessel, and has the government assessed whether
repairing and continuing to use the Maritime Image would be more cost-effective in the interim?
(4) What steps is the government taking
to ensure maritime training at Fremantle can continue without disruption while
a new vessel is procured?
