REPORTS RECEIVED BY MINISTER FOR AGRICULTURE AND FOOD
(1) Which of the following reports has the minister received and, for each, when will the minister table them — (a) report or business case on the implementation of the state saleyard strategy; (b) report into the structure of the Department of Agriculture and Food; (c) report on the results of the trials of growing GM canola; and (d) analysis aimed at identifying agriculture precincts in WA? (2) If any of the above reports received by the minister will not be tabled, why not? Hon ROBYN McSWEENEY

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. My answer will not be as long as the previous one or as humorous. (1) (a) The business case is in final draft form. The minister has not received the final business case. (b) The minister has received a report titled “Strategic Positioning of the Department of Agriculture and Food”, dated 30 April 2009, and a series of briefings from the director general and the previous acting director general on the restructuring and modernisation of the Department of Agriculture and Food. There is no requirement for the minister to table the report. However, he is happy to do so if the member desires. The minister is also happy to arrange a briefing on this subject for interested members. (c) The minister received the 2009 “Genetically Modified Canola Trials Program in Western Australia” report on 14 January 2010. This report is available on the Department of Agriculture and Food’s website. (d) The minister has received briefings but no formal reports have been received. (2) Not applicable.
