SHIRE OF COOLGARDIE DEVELOPMENTS — DEPARTMENT
OF MINES AND PETROLEUM OBJECTIONS
951. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
minister representing the Minister for Mines and Petroleum:
I refer to a number of recent development applications by the
Shire of Coolgardie to undertake development within the gazetted town site,
against which objections were lodged by the Department of Mines and Petroleum.
(1) On what
grounds did the Department of Mines and Petroleum object to the shire's
applications to develop its community structure within its gazetted town site?
(2) Is the
minister aware that these objections are limiting the ability of the town of
Coolgardie to provide services to locals and visitors to the region, including
a vital truck stop on the main street, Great Eastern Highway?
(3) Will the
minister commit to meeting the Shire of Coolgardie regarding the development
planning to seek an early resolution of the shire's concerns?
(4) If no to
(3), why not?
