(1) When will the Minister make himself available for an urgent meeting with Hedland community leadership to discuss a timeframe for affordable workers accommodation in Port Hedland similar to that in Karratha?
(2) Regarding the release of land to major developers:
(a) why is the Minister not utilising the Royalties for Regions funds to ease housing stress in the Pilbara and invest in the construction and supply of affordable housing developments in Hedland and Newman and Tom Price in a similar manner to the Karratha affordable housing initiative?

(1) As the Member would be aware I have had many meetings with Hedland community leaders and developers on land release and affordable housing issues and I remain willing and available to meet as required.
(2) A number of initiatives are being undertaken under the Pilbara Cities initiative, which is supported by Royalties for Regions funding, to provide affordable housing developments in the Pilbara. In addition to the Karratha Service Workers Accommodation other affordable housing initiatives include:
· The Stage 1 and Stage II land releases in South Hedland. These releases, particularly Stage II, are targeted at achieving the timely development of land and housing with a specific focus on affordable accommodation initiatives and housing for key workers; and
· The Kurra at Newman development which includes an affordable housing component with commencement of the first stage 79 lots expected to occur before the end of the year.
