PUBLIC
SCHOOLS — TAPERED BASE TEACHER ALLOCATION
397. Hon SUE ELLERY to the
Minister for Education:
I refer to the introduction of a tapered base teacher
allocation in public schools, which commenced in term 1 this year.
(1) How many
full-time equivalent staff members has that introduction made excess to school
requirements —
(a) in primary schools; and
(b) in secondary schools?
(2) What is the dollar value of those savings to date?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) (a) Nil; and
(b) nil.
As overall teacher FTE numbers are
being maintained across the system in 2014, there is no link between changes to
the tapered base and teachers being excess to requirements. Staff are
identified as being excess to requirements, or redeployees, due to changes in
student enrolments, changes to the profile of enrolments and staff returning
from leave. Staff who are excess to requirements are redeployed.
(2) Not applicable.
