I refer to admissions for each South West hospital and ask, for each of 2014 and 2015 to date: (a) what were the total number of same day admissions for each of the following categories: (i) childbirth; (ii) medical (emergency); (iii) medical (other); (iv) specialist mental health; (v) surgical (emergency); and (vi) surgical (other); (b) for each category in (a), what were the total number of overnight admissions; (c) for each category in (a), what were the total number of admissions discharged on the same day; (d) what was the average length of stay in overnight admissions in the following categories: (i) acute care; (ii) rehabilitation; (iii) palliative care; and (iv) other sub acute and non acute care; and (e) how many overnight admissions were aged 65 and over?

To differentiate between (a) and (c), part (a) has been prepared on the basis of
intended
same day admissions, and part (c) on the basis of
actual
same day admissions.
Due to the number of data cells requested, all responses have been provided in table format. Values less than 5 have been suppressed for patient confidentiality reasons.
Data is provided based on discharges (separations) from respective hospitals.
Data is provided for public hospitals in the South West only.
Figures are sourced from datasets held at 21 October 2015. Coded data, which is required to answer for the prescribed categories for 2015 to date, is complete and available only up until 31 July 2015.
