(2) As per the Young Offenders Regulations 1995 , Part 7 - Gratuities Division 2 - detention centres other than special detention centres Section 43 (2) the superintendent may direct, that, because of the nature of the activities that a detainee, is required to undertake, the gratuities credited to the detainee be increased, as the superintendent considers appropriate, for the period during which the detainee undertakes these activities. All detainees are paid a weekly income of $15.00. In addition to the basic rate of $15.00 per week detainees who reside in the Harding A unit, can earn an extra $3.00 per week and detainees who reside in the Self-Care units, can earn an extra $5.00 per week. Detainees who are employed in special positions shall be paid at a rate as determined by the designated Superintendent for each day they complete the necessary duties assigned to that position. Earning’s gained from these positions are in addition to the earnings noted above. These positions may include but shall not be limited to; Weekly Payments · Maintenance Assistant/s $10.00 · Laundry Assistant/s (unit) $ 5.00 · Kitchen Assistant/s $10.00 · Canteen/Laundry Assistant $10.00 · Gardens Assistant $10.00 · Wing Captain (unit) $ 5.00
