(2) Yes. Legislation was proposed based on recommendations of the 1994 review of the role, responsibilities and powers of Justices of the Peace. The Attorney General met with the President of the Association in April 2003 to discuss the retirement issue and the Association’s views on the possible impact of this legislation on the community. In light of the comment received, the Attorney General resolved to remove the proposed retirement clause from the legislation. (3) Not applicable.
