ASSET SALES — WESTERN POWER —
REGIONAL CONSUMERS
339. Mr W.J. JOHNSTON to the Leader of
the National Party:
I ask a supplementary question. Will
the Leader of the National Party join WA Labor today and put the interests of
regional Western Australians first and simply reject the risks of the Liberal
Party's ideological privatisation agenda?
Several members interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Churchlands, I call you to order for the first time. I want
the member for Cannington to repeat the question, because I never heard a word.
Mr
V.A. Catania interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for North West Central, I call you to order for the first
time.
Mr
W.J. JOHNSTON : Will the Leader of the National Party join WA Labor today
and put the interests of regional Western Australians first by simply rejecting
the risks of the Liberal Party's ideological privatisation agenda?

There is no way I will join the
Labor Party as it applies to regional Western Australia. Every now and then one
of them ventures over the hill and has a look. With the exception of the member
for Kimberley, every now and then someone walks over the hill and has a look.
When they go out there, they realise now, after the seven years, what they did
not do for regional Western Australia. Every time they go out there they
realise the stark contrast because of what they did not do for regional Western
Australia. The Labor Party has no credibility in regional Western Australia.
The Leader of the Opposition said in his budget reply contribution that the
opposition was policy heavy. I tell you what, Mr Speaker: it is awfully
light-on when it comes to regional Western Australia.
Several members interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Warnbro, I call you for the second time. A quick
answer, minister.
Mr
D.T. REDMAN : When they are in regional Western Australia, they look like
lost children walking through the streets. They have no credibility in regional
Western Australia.
Mr
P. Papalia interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Warnbro!
