The Department of Housing and Works advises:
(1) A draft structure plan was submitted to the City of Bunbury, and in November 2006 the City requested that the Department consider a number of issues. The Department has had ongoing discussions with the Council and is working to address the issues within its control and submit a revised structure plan as soon as possible.
It is estimated that the plan will provide for approximately 250 residential lots and a retirement village site. The lots will range in size from cottage lots averaging around 350sqm, to conventional lots averaging around 500sqm, grouped housing sites up to 4000sqm and a retirement village site of approximately 8ha.
(2) Rezoning is contingent upon the City of Bunbury agreeing to the advertising of the draft structure plan. The rezoning and the structure plan processes can then occur in parallel. The proposed rezoning is to Residential Development Zone.
(3)Expressions of Interest opened on 28 September 2005 and closed on 21 October 2005. Seven responses were received. The EOI process informed the preparation of the draft structure plan by confirming that there was sufficient interest to support the inclusion of a retirement village site in the plan. In March 2006 the Department advised all parties who expressed interest that the continuation of the process was subject to the completion of the rezoning and structure planning.
(4)Yes, it's proposed to include a retirement village into the planning and development of the land.
