WORKING ON FIRE — CONTRACTUAL ARRANGEMENT
153. Hon MARTIN PRITCHARD to the
minister representing the Minister for Environment:
I refer to the contractual
arrangement with Working on Fire to undertake fire management and suppression
services.
(1) Was this contract subject to a tender
process; and, if not, why not?
(2) If yes to (1) —
(a) what is the reference number;
(b) when did this contractual
arrangement commence;
(c) when is it due to conclude; and
(d) why was this contract considered
necessary?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The Minister for Environment has provided the
following response.
(1) The
Department of Parks and Wildlife has not entered into a formal term contract
with Working on Fire. Working on Fire has been engaged on a day-to-day,
fee-for-service basis as fire management circumstances have required.
(2) Not applicable.
Can I ask that the business of the
house resume?
The PRESIDENT : As it is your birthday, I believe
we could do that. It must be birthday season; Lisa Parrella had a birthday yesterday.
