PRIMARY INDUSTRIES AND
REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT —ABORIGINAL FARMING REGENERATIVE LAND RESTORATION
FUNCTION
1051. Hon LOUISE KINGSTON to the Minister for Agriculture and
Food:
I refer to an Aboriginal farming regenerative
land restoration function held by the Department of Primary Industries and
Regional Development recently in which attendees were provided with vegan
catering and advised that this was due to the ''environmental impact of
red meat''.
Does the minister personally
support the position of the department that red meat should be avoided due to
the supposed environmental impact?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I note this question was asked and this answer is
current as of Tuesday, 13 August.
Despite extensive inquiries, DPIRD
is unable to identify an event that meets the description provided. Personally,
I am a committed red meat eater, but the dietary requirements of others are a personal
choice for them to make.
