TERTIARY
HOSPITAL BEDS
964. Mr R.H. COOK to the
Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question. The minister said that the
reduction of 60 tertiary adult multi-day beds is related to the budget. Can the
minister provide details of the estimated cost overruns for North and South
Metropolitan Health Services? What are the estimated costs?

AnswerView source ↗

I did not say what the member just said—that it was
in some way related to the budget. This is part of the total clinical services
framework and the long-term planning of the hospital. I reiterate that when
members opposite were in government, the budget was about $4.6 billion and is
now about $8.2 billion. It has gone up every year. The extra cost for each of those
hospitals is 4.5 per cent.
Mr M. McGowan : Why donXXX ### XXXt you answer
what you were asked? What are the overruns?
Dr K.D. HAMES : He
tacked something on right at the end, which I did not get to answer because the
Leader of the Opposition was interjecting.
