(1)–(3) I
thank the Leader of the Opposition for the question, which I believe is the
same question he asked the Premier a week or so ago.
Mr M. McGowan : Similar.
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : Very. At budget time, we announced that we were pursuing the
sale of Western Power, amongst other assets, and that is what we are doing.
When we are in a position to announce the policies of the structure of the
sale, we will announce them and we will let members know. Until that time —
Mr
M. McGowan : Before the election.
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : That is for us to decide. We will announce it in full.
Mrs
M.H. Roberts : Very sneaky.
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : It is not sneaky at all. We are out there. The opposition
members are the ones who are sneaking. How are they going to fund the capital
works that they are promising, jumping through the suburbs? We indicated that
we had an asset recycling program. Part of that is Western Power. We are
pursuing the sale and deciding on the structure and we will announce our
decision.
Mr
M. McGowan : He's shaking his head. He is saying you're not.
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : No. He asked me a question.
Several members interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Thank you. One speaker!
Dr
M.D. NAHAN : We are pursuing the sale of Western Power. Once we make
decisions on it, we will let members know.
