PORT HEDLAND — HOSPITAL SITE DEVELOPMENT
336. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Minister for
Lands:
I refer to Finbar's
acquisition of the former Port Hedland hospital site as part of an apartment
and office project and the member for Pilbara's comments in today's North West Telegraph , and I quote —
''I don't think it
will get out of the ground without Government investment,''
(1) Will the
state government be financially investing in the project with Finbar through
the purchase or lease of apartments, as in the case of Pelago?
(2) Has the
minister met with Finbar or given any undertaking in relation to this new
project, or will the government be providing any financial undertaking or
commitment to this project?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the Leader of the Opposition
for the question.
(1)–(2) It
is my understanding that there is no government investment in the Finbar
development in Port Hedland; that is something that Finbar has simply taken on
its own financial merits and made decisions on. As the Leader of the Opposition
is aware, there has been a sale, I think, from LandCorp to Finbar, but there
are some processes still to work through. I am not aware of any intention of
government to purchase any units within that development.
