(1) Have any meetings been held between the Department and representatives of either Transborders Energy or Buru Energy to discuss the potential development of a floating (or ‘marinised’) LNG facility on the Kimberley coast to process gas from the Rafael gas discovery?
(2) Have any meetings been held between the Minister’s office and representatives of either Transborders Energy or Buru Energy to discuss the potential development of a floating (or ‘marinised’) LNG facility on the Kimberley coast to process gas from the Rafael gas discovery?
(3) If yes to either (1) or (2), how many meetings have taken place, when did they occur and who was in attendance?
(4) Has the Department provided any input, via meetings or via written communications, to the Transborders-led pre-feasibility study of a Kimberley-based Floating Liquified Natural Gas (FLNG) facility?
(5) If yes to (4):
(a) what was the advice provided by the Department in relation to the feasibility of the proposal;
(b) did the advice include any reference to James Price Point as a possible location for an FLNG facility;
(c) will the Minister release any written input to the pre-feasibility study; and
(d) if no to (c), why not?
(6) Given that both companies, Transborders and Buru, state in their 18 April 2023 announcement of the completion of the pre-feasibility study that the ‘assumed location’ of this FLNG project, including an LNG processing vessel and all the land-based infrastructure required to deliver gas to the location, store and export it, is the Shire of Derby-West Kimberley, has the Department alerted the companies to the serious environmental, technical and economic issues and risks confronting such a development in King Sound?
(7) If the Department has not already alerted the companies to the serious issues and risks associated with developing an LNG project in King Sound, will it do so prior to the companies moving to the next stage of the project?
(8) If no to (7), why not?
