457 VISA HOLDERS — PUBLIC SCHOOLS CHARGE
511. Mr B.S. WYATT to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. In light of the fact that
the Premier has now walked away from two components of his fiscal action plan,
will the Premier guarantee that he will meet all the other components of the
budget fiscal action plan?

AnswerView source ↗

We are committed to, and we will achieve, a strong surplus.
Mr B.S. Wyatt : No!
No is the answer to that!
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
We have achieved surpluses in each of our five years in government. We will
achieve strong surpluses in this and the forward years.
Mr B.S. Wyatt : So
you will not guarantee your fiscal action plan?
The SPEAKER :
Member for Victoria Park!
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
The shadow Treasurer should look at the dollar, which is down 15 per cent, and
he should look at iron ore prices. That has a far greater positive impact on
the budget than 457s.
