Base funding planned or provided to Western Australia under the Australian health care agreements - (1) 2003-04, state budget estimate, $733.9 million; (2) 2003-04, commonwealth commitment, $731.342 million; (3) 2001-02, actual, $660.75 million. By way of further explanation, in addition to base funding, the State receives additional funding from the Commonwealth for special projects. If the 1998-2002 Australian health care agreement - inclusive of the national health development fund - were rolled over in the following five years, the difference in funding received by the State from the Commonwealth in 2003-04 would be a reduction of $5.2 million.
