OFFICE OF SHARED SERVICES - AUDITOR GENERAL’S REPORT
Today’s report from the Auditor General, titled “Performance Examination - Shared Services Reform: A Work in Progress”, into the centrepiece of the government’s public sector reforms, the Office of Shared Services, notes comments from agencies that have been involved in this project. One of those agencies, the Department of Culture and the Arts, noted the following - The delay in implementing the roll-in for the agency has caused additional expense and importantly greater pressures on staffing and maintaining existing services. (1) Can the Minister advise the house about the problems experienced by the Department of Culture and the Arts in relation to the Office of Shared Services experiment? (2) Have the problems associated with the Office of Shared Services project had a negative impact on the functions of the Department of Culture and the Arts in any way, shape or form? Ms S.M. McHALE

I thank the member for Carine for her question. (1)-(2) The issue with the Office of Shared Services has been canvassed by the Auditor General. The Treasurer has spoken on that report. As ministers, we will be looking at the Auditor General’s comment and findings, and we will be considering what he has said.
