WATER CORPORATION — LATE PAYMENTS —
INTEREST RATE
249. Dr D.J. HONEY to the Premier:
The Premier may recollect my question to the Minister for
Water on 18 February about the Water Corporation's astronomical late payment interest charges of 11.7
per cent. After two months, and despite the onset of the coronavirus epidemic, can the Premier explain why the Water Corporation is still issuing
bills with late payment charges more than 40 times the official cash rate?

The government made some announcements
a few weeks ago about changes to make things better for people across the community, particularly those who might
be disadvantaged by COVID-19. To the best of my recollection , we
announced that there would be a reduction to zero on the interest rate on Water
Corporation bills. Perhaps the bills to which the member refers are pre–that
announcement.
