I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) There were
1 483 teaching staff in schools on fixed-term contracts at the start of 2014
and for the whole school year.
(2) It is not
currently known how many teaching staff in schools will be appointed to
fixed-term contracts for the whole of the 2015 school year. Principals have not
yet finalised all their 2015 appointments and many fixed-term appointments are
made because teachers confirm resignations, retirements, transfers and leave
requests at the very end of the school year. This is the same process every
year.
