(1) - (2) WA Police officers from the Central Metropolitan Alcohol and Drug office and local police from Cottesloe Police Station conduct frequent, targeted patrols of Club Bay View and the surrounding area to monitor activities and detect misuse of drugs and other breaches of statue law. The patrols generally involve the use of high visibility uniformed police conducting patrols and vehicle stops in marked police vehicles and foot patrols within and around the premises. Patrols intensify at times, and on days, when past experience indicates a higher than normal potential for offending and anti-social behaviour.
In addition, at peak times, Western Suburbs Detective officers conduct plain clothes patrols in unmarked police vehicles and foot patrols within and around Club Bay View in an effort to detect and apprehend individuals found committing drug and other offences.
WA Police no longer has a dedicated Drug Squad however the Organised Crime Squad (OCS) operates from within Specialist Crime Portfolio. The role of OCS is to manage all matters relating to organised crime, which commonly involves elements of large scale drug distribution and manufacture. OCS charter is to counter the activities of organised crime groups. If OCS operations were in the vicinity of Club Bay View it would be for the purpose of targeting an established criminal network cell.
