Protection:
I refer to the
Department of Communities' out-of-home care services.
(1) How many children are in the care of the CEO?
(2) Are there any children in the care of the CEO
who are not currently placed with an approved departmental foster carer,
approved community organisation foster carer or approved departmental family
carer?
(3) If yes to (1), how many children are in this
situation?
(4) Where are these children accommodated while
awaiting an approved placement?

I
thank the honourable member for some notice of the question. The following response has
been provided by the Minister for Child Protection.
The
Department of Communities advises the following.
(1) As of 31 May 2025, there were 5,290 children
in the care of the CEO.
(2)–(4) All children in care have access
to an approved placement. As at 31 May 2025, there were 1,178 children in a
variety of placement types, including residential care, boarding schools and
other arrangements.
