1132. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Fisheries:
I refer to the Marmion, Ningaloo and
Ngari Capes Marine Parks.
(1) Has the
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development completed all the
functions that it has responsibility for under the respective management plans
for each of the marine parks?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If no to (1),
can the minister please provide details of which functions have not been
completed and for which management plans?
(4) Can the
minister please table the management plan and any performance review that is
related to DPIRD's responsibilities for each of the parks for the years
2021–22 and 2022–23?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I answer on behalf of the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Fisheries. The following answer has been provided
by the minister.
(1)–(3) The
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has functional
responsibilities across the state's marine parks, including fisheries
compliance and management. It undertakes these functions based on priority
needs and having regard for sustainability considerations.
(4) Through
the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, DPIRD provides a report
on an annual basis to the Conservation and Parks Commission on services
delivered, including a status report against the relevant management plans.
