(a) ongoing programmes and individual projects involving Western Australia and East Java;
(b) ongoing programmes and individual projects involving Western Australia and Indonesia;
(c) budgeted costs of these projects and programmes, including non-State funding such as AUSAID, the Indonesian Government, etc; and

(a) Nil
(b) A student from Indonesia is based at the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority while undertaking her Masters degree at The University of Western Australia. Kings Park scientists supervise the Indonesian student in undertaking her research project on the propagation of a local WA orchid species.
(c) The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority provides in-kind support such as office space and support, and bench space in their plant science laboratories and use of specialist equipment. The University of Western Australia and AUSAID provide the student with funds for operating expenses, tuition fees and living expenses.
(d) Nil
Perth Zoo
(a) The Zoological Parks Authority (Perth Zoo) does not have any ongoing programmes or individual projects in East Java.
(b) Perth Zoo is involved in ongoing programmes and related individual projects in Sumatra Indonesia and near Bogor, Java. This work is authorised through a 'Letter of Intent' between the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation, Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia and the Chief Executive Officer of Perth Zoo. Ongoing programmes are:
(i) Development and support to an Orangutan Sanctuary located near Bukit Tigapuluh National Park in Sumatra in conjunction with the Frankfurt Zoological Society and the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry;
(ii) Support to wildlife protection patrols of Bukit Tigapuluh National Park and its surrounds in conjunction with the Frankfurt Zoological Society and the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry;
(iii) Support to the Javan Gibbon Foundation and the Javan Gibbon Centre in Bogor, Java for the conservation and potential re-introduction of Javan (Silvery) Gibbons in conjunction with the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry.
Individual projects operating within these ongoing programmes are:
1) Construction of a bridge providing improved access to the Orangutan Sanctuary at Bukit Tigapuluh (ref (b) (i) above).
2) Funding for investigation and implementation of conflict management strategies between wildlife, including elephants, and local communities (ref (b) (i) and (ii) above).
3) Transaction of a Zoo-born Silvery Gibbon to the Javan Gibbon Centre in August 2010 (ref (iii) above).
(c) Funds for programs and projects come from public donations and fundraising initiatives as a part of Perth Zoo's community fundraising program 'Wildlife Conservation Action'.
In 2009-2010 distribution is as follows:
$ 80 000 for (i) above
$ 34 000 for (ii) above
$ 29 000 for (iii) and 3) above*
$ 19 000 for 1) above
$ 42 500 for 2) above
*An additional amount, estimated to be approximately $ 3 000 will be expended in 2010-2011 for the proposed transport of the Gibbon to Java. This will come from the Zoo's annual animal transaction budget and not from community fundraising.
