I refer to the Minister’s announcement on 20 August 2013 revealing reductions in central and regional office positions and education assistants employed by the Department of Education, and I ask: (a) when did the Department determine that these positions were not justified; (b) on what basis were these positions determined to be unjustified; (c) for Central Office: (i) how many full-time equivalents will be cut from Central Office; (ii) what are the job titles of each of the positions cut; and (iii) in which Division, Directorate and, if applicable, business unit were each of these positions located; and (d) for Regional Offices: (i) how many full-time equivalents will be cut from each of the Education Regions in the State; and (ii) what are the job titles of each of the positions cut?

(a)-(b) The Department of Education's executive and senior managers undertook an extensive process of analysis on the basis of a need to reduce recurrent spending in central and regional offices from June 2013 to 8 August 2013. Positions and programs were reviewed carefully to identify those that could be abolished without significant impact on support and services delivered to schools.
